Hello again! I've taken a very long break from blogging, and I've missed it! I've also missed playing along with the Newton's Nook challenges, so this weekend I decided to play around with some of my cardmaking supplies. Today I'm sharing my card creation for the Inky Paws Challenge #23 over at the Newton's Nook Designs blog. The theme for this challenge is Summer Lovin', and I was really excited to be able to use some of my Newton's Nook summer stamps and to use a few supplies that I had laying around to create this summer beach scene.
I used my Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad to stamp the cute kitty, sandcastle and sand bucket images from the Newton's Summer Vacation stamp set, and then used my Prismacolor watercolor colored pencils and some old Design Spectracolor colored pencils that I found on a rummage sale (for just $0.25!) to color them in. I used a Darice Beach Wave embossing folder on royal blue cardstock to add some texture, cut out the top waves, and used a white colored pencil to highlight the waves.
The sky is a bright blue cardstock, with clouds punched out using a Fiskars squeeze punch. I also found a Fiskars sail boat punch buried in my punch bin, so I had to include a boat in the scene. I punched one sail in two colors to add a bit of depth to the boat. For the beach, I cut some kraft colored paper to look like sand, and added some shading with a colored pencil. Then I adhered everything to a white cardstock base.
Thanks for reading! I hope to get back to blogging more often again! =)
Hello Kim! Nice to see you back on the blog! I love the big waves and boat you put behind the kitty - it makes such a fun scene! Thank you for getting inky with us at and linking up to our Inky Paws Challenge!
